God’ doesn’t want us to relate to him and his laws/commandments in a legalistic way but relational because if we relate to him and his will in in a legal sense, we won’t desire or be able to keep the first commandment and thus we will want to keep God the father and Jesus on the outside of our hearts relating to them in a transactional vs relational sense. (Revelation 3:14-22)

“but didn’t we do many works in your name?) I will tell them I never knew you”) Matthew 7:21-23

Keeping the first commandment, (have no other God before me, naturally expels the love of the world out of our heart and it’s the only way to expel the love of the world out of our heart which gives us true peace and fulfillment! It’s the expulsive power of a new affection, seeing our creator as superior to all of creation!

This is the healthiest, most joyful, fruitful, empowering and sane thing you could ever do!

34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— 36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ Matthew 10:34-36

26″ If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

In Luke 14:26. the word hate doesn’t mean hate as understood as hate in the western mind, but to esteem people less than God in trust and attachment and doing this you will actually love them more than what you would if you didn’t love God more.

It’s about relating to God and others in the most proper and healthiest way.

God doesn’t want us to relate to him as a Baal but Ishi. Relating to God as Baal doesn’t deal with the sin problem and actually inflames selfishness (a house swept clean) We cannot love others properly and purely unless we love our creator more and you’re not going to trust God nor allow him into your heart if you relate to him as a Baal type of God thus you will not be empowered to agape love others.

43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45 NIV

God will allow people to let you down to show you the folly of misplaced trust!

To live out agape (1 Corinthians 13) through willpower and lack will prove futile unless you love God supremely because if someone disappoints you, it will make you want to withdraw your love from them because it won’t be coming from a pure and whole place, so love will become transactional and motivated by dependency.

Disclaimer: I am not nor will I ever promote putting up with disrespect, abuse and codependency! Love rejoices with the truth! 1 Corinthians 13:6,
